Prehnite is a mineral discovered in South Africa in the 18th century by the German Colonel Von Prehns, after whom it was named. It has a hardness of 6, is usually found in greenish hues and features inclusions. High quality prehnite is translucent to transparent and can be faceted and/or carved. It is mined in South Africa, Germany, USA, and Australia.
